The starters, once we’d finally made our decisions, everything looked appetising and arrived promptly in spite of a pretty full house.

There were appreciative murmurs coming from the rest of the table. My friends had opted for the Burgundian Snails in garlic butter which came piping hot beneath a delicate puff pastry dome.

My duck leg confit with black cherry sauce, Dauphinoise potato, carrot, and green beans was a real plate of comfort food, the meat falling off the bone with a perfectly crispy skin.

With only a small space left for dessert, I opted for the pistachio soufflé served with hot chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.

The chocolate mousse cup with cherry compote looked amazing with the little chocolate shards on top. Decadently rich and delicious.
