Hello friends
Eddie is an Irish man, born in Ireland but lived in Great Britain all his life. He is an adult so fully able to take responsibility. Eddie has got a son born in England - a 3 year old who naturally was asking his Papa to buy him an English flag. He wouldn't. Of course the little boy cried his heart out. So Eddie thought about it... for three long days. He came back to his son and gave him a beautiful green, orange & white Irish flag. The little boy threw it on the floor and burst into floods of tears. Yet still Eddie couldn't persuade himself to buy an English flag so eventually he told the little boy to ask his English mother to buy him one. This sad little story demonstrates how strongly we feel about out nationality. Although there is a happy ending - the mother did buy the little boy an English flag - to the disgust of our Irish friend Eddie! I have lived in this country for 35 years: would I prefer an English flag over a French one? No - maybe - I might have both!
