Raymond Blanc

The Great British Food Revival

05 September 2011

Raymond Blanc will present an episode of BBC series The Great British Food Revival, focusing on plums.

This programme will be filmed in the beautiful region of Pershore and the Vale of Evesham, which has always been home to many orchards: apples, pears and even vines were grown, but most uniquely, so were plums. These were grown in a number not seen elsewhere in the country, and Evesham had jam making and canning factories to make use of this crop. The boom time for planting and growing plums was the last quarter of the 19th and the first quarter of the 20th centuries. Since the end of the Second World War, the Vale has lost 80% of its orchards, to the detriment of the locals who are uniquely proud of their heritage.

Raymond will also present some of his favourite recipes using plums.

The broadcast date for this programme will be announced as soon as it is available.

Raymond Blanc's new book, Kitchen Secrets, featuring recipes from Kitchen Secrets Series 1 & 2 and many more, was published by Bloomsbury on 14 February and is available to buy online from Amazon, from Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Brasserie Blanc, Maison Blanc, and from online and retail bookstores.
