As a long and loyal Ambassador of Action Against Hunger, Raymond did not hesitate to donate his fee to the charity when asked to host Harrods' first live dining experience, organised by Martell cognac. He was joined by celebrity pals including legendary broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan, entrepreneurial designer Sir Terence Conran and star of The Apprentice, Karren Brady. On Monday 19 March, he presented the humanitarian organisation with the £20,000 at his renowned Le Manoir restaurant.
Raymond said: “I am delighted to be able to present my charity Action Against Hunger with these vital funds for their life saving work. Their teams are preventing and treating child hunger around the world, and right now they are working across West Africa in response to a devastating food crisis, already helping more than 800,000 people. One million children are at risk of deadly hunger and teams are in a race against time to save as many lives as possible, before it is too late. I am incredibly proud to be an Ambassador of Action Against Hunger and the dinner in Harrods was an excellent opportunity to show my support.”
Action Against Hunger’s Executive Director, Jean Michel Grand, said: “We continue to be blown away by Raymond’s passion and efforts to support Action Against Hunger. As one of our most loyal supporters for many years now, his huge generosity in presenting us with this cheque is most appreciated. This could not have come at a better time, as right now children in the Sahel are in desperate need of help. The funds will go towards our life saving work around the world to reach children suffering from hunger.”
Raymond has supported Action Against Hunger for many years, raising vital funds through his world famous restaurant, representing the organisation at high profile events and donating countless money-can’t-buy prizes for charity auctions.
